8-Day Tour of Ghana, Togo, and Benin
This is an itinerary for an 8-day trip through Ghana, Togo, and Benin, experiencing the culture and beauty of these three countries. All of our tours are customized to our clients' interests and requirements. If you are interested in discussing a trip like this one, please get in touch!
Day 1
Arrive at Kotoka International Airport in Accra. Meet your guide and settle into your hotel.
Day 2
Visit sites of cultural and historical importance in Accra: Black Star Square, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. Continue to the Central Region and have a guided tour of the dungeons where African captives were kept before the arrival of the slaves ships. It is a thought provoking history.
Day 3
Visit with Elmina Castle and the nearby bustling fishing harbour before travelling to Kakum National Park. Enjoy the canopy walkway built in the tropical rain forest.
Day 4
Today we travel onward to Togo. On your way, stop at the history and art museum in Ada. After crossing the border, visit Asigame or the grand Marché of Lome and optionally the fetish market.
Day 5
A day trip to Davedi village for Ewe culture immersion. The women's association will welcome you with dance before you enjoy a local lunch in the village.
Return to Lome and relax at the hotel or on the beach.
Day 6
Continue to Benin. Stop at Agbodrafo for a tour of the hidden slave house called Wood House.
Cross the border at Hillacondji and continue to Ouidah. Visits include the Door of No Return and the Python Temple.
Optionally visit a Fon village Amedemahoe before continuing to Cotonu.
Day 7
Visit Porto Novo, the old Portuguese town, and enjoy a ride on the black river, a palm-covered water body which flows into Nigeria.
Return to Abomey Calavi and take a boat to explore Ganvie the largest stilt village on Lake Nokoue.
Day 8
Relax and do some shopping at the craft village in Cotonou. Afterwards, stop at the epic Amazon Esplanade in the heart of the city.
That evening, board your outward flight in Cotonou.
